STORIES OF HOPE

We want to share with you stories of our children who have so much hope fortheirfuture.

STORIES OF HOPE

TANYA GUPTA

Me and my younger sister never experienced such a freedom and fun-filled life before. Do you want to know why? Our parents wanted to sell us for a mere ₹10,000—that was the price tag on our lives.

In the past two years at Sharan Home, we have evolved so much. We speak, read, write, and understand English much better than many of my peers in the neighborhood where we once lived.

Now, I have started learning French, Hindi, and Marathi too. We never knew that learning Mathematics could be such a joy, and doing Environmental Science practically is an out-of this world experience.

We hope to meet many of you when we become a doctor and a teacher in the near future.

SANJANA PAWAR

I was a victim of molestation and sexual abuse by my very own father. I was kept illiterate until the age of 12 by my very own parents.

Even though I’m a special child with my own challenges and struggles, with the help of my teachers and the other girls at Sharan Home I was able to overcome them and today as a beautiful young confident 19 year old girl I can read and write. I assist with the hospitality and catering services at the home.

I desire to continue to grow and excel in all that I do
so that I can pursue a career in the hospitality and food industry.

JYOTHI KEDAR

I am Jyothi and I don't want you to feel sad or take pity on me when I tell you that my mother died while giving birth to me and my father abandoned me on the delivery bed. I was in the hospital without my parents for over a month until someone thought that I could light their life with joy and be their very own child.

My foster parents however were so insecure about raising me up and I thank that little birdie who brought this message to Sharan Home Foundation who gladly welcomed me and because of that today I have a large family that loves and cares for me as they always go the extra mile to help see to it that I cope up with my education and extra curricular activities. I do desire to become a city planner when i grow up.

PRIYA PATIL

I am Priya Prakash Patil. This is not my home. I lived under the bridge and this is the first time I saw a house. This is where my life took a turn and indeed this one move has transformed my entire life.

From an illiterate garbage picker and beggar at the traffic signal, I am so proud to say that as of today I can understand read write and speak English & French language. Mathematics is my favorite subject and I do always look forward to learn new concepts.

I would love to be a Mathematician but many of my teachers say that I have the potential to make a profound change in the lives of innumerable people and in the society by pursuing a career to become a Collector or Corporator.

We strive to provide an environment for holistic development, transformative upliftment, and overall growth for underprivileged minor girls from various socio-economic backgrounds
